A new golden chapter has been added to the industrial scenario of Kanpur, the industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh and once called the ‘Manchester of the East’. Till now, due to lack of big convention infrastructure in the city, exporters and industrialists of Kanpur had to go to Delhi, Greater Noida or Mumbai to meet international buyers, but with the opening of this centre, this hurdle will end forever.
This convention center in Kanpur has been designed keeping in mind the modern architecture, safety standards and green building concept:

Huge Exhibition Halls: Two large state-of-the-art exhibition halls have been built in the convention centre, one of which is spread over an area of 16,000 square feet and the other hall is 12,000 square feet. Big trade fairs and trade expos can be organized here by setting up hundreds of stalls simultaneously.

300 seater auditorium and conference hall: A main conference hall equipped with modern audio-visual technology with a capacity of 300 seats has been prepared for national and international level seminars and corporate conferences.

Meeting and Board Rooms: Three separate meeting rooms with a capacity of 100 seats each have been provided for business-to-business (B2B) meetings and personal business negotiations.

Accommodation for guests: 6 deluxe guest rooms and 2 luxury suites have been built within the complex for businessmen, investors and VIP guests coming from India and abroad.

Kanpur is one of the largest export centers of leather footwear, saddlery, leather garments and textile fabrics across the country. According to recent financial data, despite the global recession and logistics crisis, Kanpur alone exports leather worth about ₹6,000 crore and textiles worth over ₹850 crore every year.

To ensure long-term success and transparent maintenance of the project, Kanpur Municipal Corporation has prepared a detailed Strategic Operational Manual in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM Indore). Under this model, the convention center will be managed as per professional event management and hospitality standards, so that it can become a self-sustaining revenue generating model and will not be a burden on the government exchequer.
Regular organization of trade fairs and industrial conferences will provide a huge boost to Kanpur’s hospitality, hotel industry, tourism, transport and local retail sectors.
