Digital market, strong supply chain and good governance give global recognition to UP’s handicrafts: Bhupendra Choudhary


Greater Noida, 27 September. In the special session of the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary said that the India Expo Center of Greater Noida is presenting the picture of changing India and changing Uttar Pradesh. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, work has been done to develop the state as a strong growth engine of the country. The government aims to extend the benefits of development to villages, artisans, women entrepreneurs and small businessmen.

He said that there has been significant expansion in the field of industry and exports in Uttar Pradesh. During the tenure of the present government, the number of industrial units has increased rapidly and the exports of the state have reached the level of more than Rs 2 lakh crore. Export hubs are being developed along with strengthening the digital market and supply chain. The emphasis is on providing facilities related to logistics, warehousing, packaging and customs at major centers like Varanasi.

Bhupendra Chaudhary said that the Common Facility Center of every district of the state is being developed as a hi-tech studio, where facilities like branding, promotion, 3D and high-definition photography and packaging will be available. With this, local products will be presented in the digital market in line with global competition. Efforts are being made to make women and self-help groups economically self-reliant by connecting them to e-commerce.

He said that systems like digital certification, online permits and traceability are being implemented to take products like wood carvings of Saharanpur, carpets of Bhadohi and handicrafts of Moradabad to the international market. Calling upon global buyers, investors and technical experts to join the export ecosystem of Uttar Pradesh, he said that the digital and industrial development journey of the state is not going to stop now.

Increase handicrafts business by connecting with digital marketing and global market: K Vijayendra Pandian

Commissioner (Industry) Vijayendra Pandian said that business is going to become increasingly digital in future, hence handicraft entrepreneurs will have to emphasize on marketing and branding on digital platforms including Instagram, Facebook. Uttar Pradesh is a big center of MSME and handicrafts, so there is vast potential to connect local products with the global market. Businessmen should not be limited to just trading but should work on product quality, quantity, packaging, branding and better margins. He stressed on identifying the specific products of the districts and developing them as models, creating digital and physical showrooms for home decor and other products and accessing foreign markets through the export chain. He called upon the participants to listen carefully to the expert sessions, study the successful models and take the answers to their questions and apply them in their business.
