In the fourth edition of UPITS organized in Greater Noida, the Transport Department through its stall gave information about new arrangements related to departmental services, road safety and vehicles. Here, Additional Chief Secretary of Transport Department, Amrit Abhijat said that under road safety, Operation Kavach campaign will be conducted against unauthorized buses in the state from 28th to 30th September.

In the technical workshop of the Transport Department, Additional Chief Secretary informed that a statewide special campaign will be conducted from 28th to 30th September under Operation Kavach against illegally operated buses. The objective of the campaign is to improve compliance with transport rules and strengthen the road safety system.
Focus on EOL vehicles on NCR pollution
In view of the increasing pollution and deteriorating air quality in NCR, he appealed to get the End of Life (EOL) vehicles scrapped at authorized scrap centres. Vehicle owners of NCR were urged to take the old vehicles which have completed their life as per prescribed standards to the authorized centre, so that it can help in reducing the pollution caused by old vehicles.

Giving information about the transformation plan of the Transport Department, he appealed to the owners of Euro standard BS 1,2,3 and 4 vehicles to apply through the transformation portal. In the workshop, special emphasis was laid on following traffic rules to reduce road accidents and deaths. People were appealed to drive at controlled speed, mandatory use of helmet on two-wheelers and seat belt on four-wheelers, not to drive under the influence of alcohol and not to use mobile phones while driving.
The Transport Department said that for public convenience, 52 of its services have been made faceless, while 40 services are being operated in auto approval mode. In the trade show, information is also being given to the youth through modern technology and simulators related to driving license.
