New Delhi. A great opportunity has emerged for 12th pass youth looking for government jobs in Indian Railways. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the short notification for direct recruitment on 1,688 vacancies under Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC – Under Graduate). In this advertisement issued under the annual railway recruitment calendar of the Central Government, important posts related to clerk, typist and ticket checking have been included.
Through this recruitment drive, eligible candidates will get a direct opportunity to get permanent government job at various zonal offices, divisions and major railway stations of Indian Railways. The official dates of application, eligibility criteria and detailed description of selection stages have been released for the candidates who have been waiting for Railway Recruitment for a long time. Interested candidates will be able to submit online applications through the official portal of Railway Recruitment Board within the stipulated time limit.
As per the information released by RRB, this recruitment is being conducted solely for 10+2 (Higher Secondary) level candidates:

Details of posts: In this recruitment drive, a total of 1,688 posts of Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Trains Clerk will be filled.

Educational qualification: It is mandatory for the candidate to have passed 12th (Intermediate) class with minimum 50 percent marks from any recognized education board. However, there is no minimum percentage requirement for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Disabled (PwBD) category, only 12th pass is sufficient.

Typing Ability: For the posts of Junior Clerk and Accounts Clerk cum Typist, the computer typing speed of the candidate should be at least 30 words per minute (wpm) in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.

Age Limit: For general category, the minimum age limit has been fixed at 18 years and the maximum age limit has been fixed at 30 years (with relaxation as per rules in some categories). OBC (non-creamy layer) will be given additional relaxation in upper age limit by 3 years, SC/ST category by 5 years and other reserved categories as per government rules.
The final selection under Railway NTPC is based on a transparent, fair and multi-stage examination system:

First Stage – CBT-1 (Screening Test): The first stage will be a 90-minute computer-based test, in which a total of 100 objective questions will be asked. This will include 40 questions from General Awareness, 30 from Mathematics and 30 from General Intelligence and Reasoning. Negative marking of one-third (1/3) marks will be applicable for each wrong answer in the examination. On the basis of these marks, merit will be prepared and the candidates will be shortlisted for the second phase.

Second Stage – CBT-2 (Main Examination): Main examination will be conducted for shortlisted candidates. In this, a total of 120 questions will be asked in a duration of 90 minutes, out of which there will be 50 questions from General Awareness, 35 from Mathematics and 35 from Reasoning. In this, it will be mandatory to obtain category wise minimum qualifying marks (General/EWS 40%, OBC/SC 30%, ST 25%).

Stage III – Typing Skill Test (CBTST): This test will be conducted only for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Account Clerk cum Typist posts. This stage will be of qualifying nature only and its marks will not be added to the final merit.

Fourth Stage – Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination: There will be a thorough scrutiny of the original educational and personal certificates of the candidates successful in CBT and Skill Test. After this, a stringent medical fitness test will be taken in the authorized hospitals of Railways.
