Despite coal crisis, electricity supply system is smooth in Yogi government, electricity is cut free during the day.


Lucknow, 20 September. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, efforts are continuing to strengthen the power supply system in Uttar Pradesh. Despite the coal crisis and various challenges, effective steps are being taken to maintain normal power supply in the state. Cut-free electricity is being provided to all categories of consumers during the day time, while an average of more than 20 hours of electricity supply is being ensured even in rural areas.

Efforts to maintain normal supply by taking electricity from seven states including Maharashtra

To maintain the availability of electricity during peak hours, the state is receiving on an average about 2,400 MW of electricity from various states through power banking. This includes Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. This system of obtaining electricity from other states is helping in maintaining the supply as per the demand of electricity in the state. The emphasis of the government and the electricity department is to provide uninterrupted and smooth electricity to the consumers.

On September 19, consumers of all categories got cut-free electricity during the day. Whereas in rural areas, electricity supply was ensured for an average of 20 hours 33 minutes. Electricity demand of 27,744 MW was supplied during this period. UP stood second in the country in peak demand power supply. Earlier on September 18 also, consumers of all categories had got cut-free electricity during the day.

Instructions to ensure power supply as per roster

During this period, electricity supply was ensured in rural areas for an average of 21 hours 43 minutes. 27,173 MW electricity was supplied in the state. UPPCL Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal has instructed the officials to ensure power supply in all areas as per the prescribed roster. For this, efforts should be made on a war footing and the supply should be maintained normal by obtaining electricity from wherever it is available.

During the maintenance month, work is being done at a rapid pace to improve the power system across the state.

At the same time, under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026, various maintenance works are being done in the maintenance month to make the electricity system better and smoother across the state. UPPCL teams are busy completing necessary maintenance works in the field to provide safe, reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
