Mathura/Barsana, 17 September. Yogi government has made extensive preparations in Barsana for Shri Radha Ashtami festival, one of the major festivals of Braj. On coming 19th September 2026 (Saturday), the birth anniversary of Radha Rani will be celebrated with full grandeur and pomp at the famous Shri Laadli Ji Temple located in Barsana. On this occasion, special consecration of Shri Ji and many cultural programs will be organized. Keeping in view the expected turnout of about 25 lakh devotees during the festival, the Uttar Pradesh government and the local administration have made elaborate arrangements for security, traffic and convenience of the devotees.
Fair area divided into 7 zones and 20 sectors
For crowd management and security, the entire Barsana Mela area has been divided into 7 zones and 20 sectors. About 3 thousand policemen have been deployed to keep an eye on every nook and corner. These include 8 Additional Superintendents of Police, 38 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 75 Inspectors, 320 Sub Inspectors, 68 Women Sub Inspectors, 2 companies of PAC and 2 platoons of PAC Flood. Apart from this, the entire fair area will be closely monitored through 155 CCTV cameras and drones. To help the devotees, 2 lost and found centers and 6 watch towers have also been established.
Special arrangements for traffic and easy darshan
To ensure that the devotees do not face any inconvenience in transportation, route diversion of heavy vehicles has been implemented. 160 special buses will be run by Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UP Roadways), while 40 buses have been kept in reserve. Two drivers have been assigned duty on each bus. A temporary bus stand has also been built in Barsana. To control the crowd, arrangements have been made for 38 holding areas, 50 parking spaces, 88 barriers, 14 barricades and shoe sheds at 7 places.
Emphasis on health, cleanliness and plastic free fair
12 medical camps will be organized by the Health Department in the fair area. Bike ambulances for emergencies, ambulances at regular distances and adequate availability of anti-venom medicines have been ensured. Arrangements have been made to make the fair area excellently clean and completely ‘plastic free’. Bhandara operators have also been instructed to collect garbage regularly and keep dustbins.
Illuminated Barsana
Work has been done to make all the roads pothole free, ensure uninterrupted power supply and plastic wrapping of transformers and poles for safety. Mathura- Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) has given a grand look to the entire Barsana with facade lighting, wall painting and cloth decoration. At the same time, the Food Safety Department is also running an intensive checking campaign to crack down on adulterators.
Local residents will also get access to darshan: District Magistrate
District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said that on September 19, Shri Radha Ashtami festival will be celebrated in Barsana with great pomp and show. Our top priority is that lakhs of devotees coming to Barsana should get all possible facilities and they can easily have darshan of Shriji without any hassle. The administration is fully committed to this. This time, along with the outside devotees, special care is also being taken for the convenience of the local residents of Barsana. So that the local people can also have darshan of their beloved Shriji (Shri Radharani Ji) on this auspicious occasion, special passes have been issued to them by the administration, so that they do not have to face any kind of inconvenience in the crowd.
