During August 1944, when the ship was passing through the Arabian Sea, a German submarine (U-Boat) suddenly attacked it with a torpedo. After this fatal attack, the ship could not control itself and sank in water within no time. Although most of the sailors and employees on board the ship were saved safely, millions of silver coins were buried forever in a depth of about 8,500 feet or more than two and a half kilometers of the sea.
