Bumper recruitment of paramedical staff in Indian Railways, online application process started for 590 posts.

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the detailed official advertisement for direct recruitment of Paramedical Staff in various Railway Zonal Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Health Units and Medical Cadre across the country. A total of 590 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment drive. In this, maximum 365 posts of Nursing Superintendent are included, while posts of various technical and clinical categories including 118 posts of Pharmacist (Entry Grade) will be filled. The application window has been activated from 15-16 September 2026 on the centralized online portal of Railway Recruitment Board rrbapply.gov.in. Interested and eligible candidates can complete their online registration by 14 October 2026. Due to the attractive pay scale, allowances and social security of Railways available under the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC), this recruitment is being considered as the biggest opportunity of the year 2026 for medical professionals.

Railway Recruitment Board has released clear details of post wise classification, pay level and starting basic pay of all 590 posts. Apart from basic pay, selected candidates will get facilities like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Dress Allowance and Railway Pass as applicable as per Central Government rules.

Railways has set stringent standards of minimum educational and technical qualifications for each post. Only those candidates can apply whose final result has been declared by the last date of application; Appearing candidates are not eligible.

  • Nursing Superintendent: 3 years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from an institute recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) or B.Sc Nursing from a recognized university. It is mandatory for the candidate to be registered as a registered nurse and midwife with the State Nursing Council or the Indian Nursing Council.

  • Pharmacist (Entry Grade): 10+2 with Science subject and 2 year Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor in Pharmacy (B.Pharm). It is necessary to be a registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of India or the concerned State Pharmacy Council.

  • Health and Malaria Inspector Grade-II: B.Sc degree with Chemistry as main or optional subject. Along with this, it is mandatory to have 1 year Diploma in Health/Sanitary Inspector or National Trade Certificate of National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT).

  • Lab Assistant Grade-II: 12th (10+2) passed from Science Faculty and Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT) or valid certificate course in Medical Lab.

  • Radiographer/X-Ray Technician: 12th passed with Physics & Chemistry and 2 years Diploma in Radiography/X-Ray Technician/Radiodiagnosis Technology. Science graduates will be given preference.

  • ECG Technician: 10+2 Science or Graduation in Science with minimum 1 year Diploma or Degree in ECG/Cardiology Technician.

  • Dialysis Technician: B.Sc with Diploma in Hemodialysis or 2 years work experience in Hemodialysis Unit, or B.Sc (Renal Dialysis Technology).

  • Optometrist: 3 to 4 year Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology or B.Sc Optometry degree and valid registration in the concerned council.

Calculation of age limit of candidates in this recruitment 1 January 2027 Will be done on the basis of. The age classification for different posts is as follows:

  • Nursing Superintendent: Minimum age 20 years and maximum age 40 years.

  • Pharmacist (Entry Grade): Minimum age 20 years and maximum age 35 years.

  • Health and Malaria Inspector: Minimum age 18 years and maximum age 33 years.

  • Lab Assistant and Other Technical Posts: Minimum age 18 years and maximum age 33 years.

  • Exemption to reserved categories: According to the rules of the Central Government, there will be a relaxation of 3 years in the maximum age limit for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL), 5 years for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) category candidates.

The selection process of Railway Paramedical Recruitment is based on three major stages:

  1. Single Stage Computer Based Examination (Single Stage CBT)

  2. Document Verification (DV)

  3. Detailed Medical Examination (Medical Fitness Examination)

The CBT exam will be of objective type (Objective Multiple Choice Questions), in which a total of 100 questions will be asked and the time will be 90 minutes (120 minutes for disabled candidates).

  • Subject wise marks division:


    • Professional Ability (Professional Subject Domain): 70 Questions (70 Marks) — This section will be related to related trades like Nursing, Pharmacy, Lab Technology.

    • General Awareness: 10 questions (10 marks).

    • General Arithmetic, Intelligence and Reasoning: 10 questions (10 marks).

    • General Science: 10 questions (10 marks).

  • Negative Marking: There will be negative marking of 1/3 (one-third) marks for each wrong answer in the examination.

  • Qualifying Marks: To pass CBT, it will be mandatory to obtain minimum 40% marks for General and EWS category, 30% for OBC (non-creamy layer), 30% for SC category and minimum 25% for ST category.

  2. Create an Account: If you are a new user, click on the ‘Apply’ button and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) by entering your name, father’s name, Aadhaar number, active mobile number and email ID.

  3. Selection of posts and RRB: Select the appropriate post (like Nursing Superintendent or Pharmacist) and the concerned Railway Recruitment Board (RRB Zone) as per your educational and technical qualification. Keep in mind, a candidate can apply from only one RRB zone.

  4. Fill academic and technical details: Enter correct information of 10th, 12th, Degree/Diploma and respective council registration number.

  5. Upload Photo and Signature: Upload recent color passport size photograph (white background) and clear signature in prescribed size.

  6. Fee Payment and Final Submission: Pay the fee through Net Banking, Debit Card or UPI as per your category. After submission, download the PDF of the filled form and keep the printout safe.
