Be careful of those who broker votes of fishermen community: Sanjay Nishad

14 September, Lucknow. Cabinet Minister and National President of Nishad Party, Dr. Sanjay Nishad has advised the fishermen community to be cautious of seasonal leaders amidst the increasing excitement of assembly elections. He posted on X and said that for the first time after independence, the fishermen community has emerged as a major political force in Uttar Pradesh. At such a time, there is a need to identify those who broker the votes of the society.


Dr. Sanjay Nishad, without naming anyone, said that some seasonal leaders have not yet been able to decide whether they want to do business in Mumbai, roam here and there spreading carpets for others or broker the votes of the fishermen community. He alleged that the people who were infamous for buying and selling votes of the fishermen community in Bihar and harming the political rise of the society there, have now come out to mislead the Nishad community in Uttar Pradesh.


He said that the one who himself does not have the capacity to win an assembly election, has come with a wad of notes in his pocket, wearing a red cap and blue uniform, to teach politics to the Nishad community of UP. The fishermen community is not a community that can be sold for money. Before teaching politics to the fishermen of Uttar Pradesh, they should understand that politics and struggle are in their blood.


Dr. Nishad said that the fishermen community fought against the Mughals and the British and played an important role in the independence of the country. The society got rights and reservation in the Constitution, but due to mutual disunity, its rights continued to be snatched away. Even today, efforts are being made to prevent the society from uniting by creating divisions in the names of Kevat, Mallah, Bind and Kashyap.


He said that the society should recognize those who take money from other parties and distribute it among the society and deal with its votes. The fisherman may be poor, but he is not one to compromise his self-respect and rights. He wrote ‘Jai Nishadraj’ at the end of the post.
