In a very tough and breath-taking final match, the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team defeated host China 1-0 and won the glittering trophy of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2026. This title win is not ordinary, but India has completed its golden hat-trick by winning the third consecutive title in this tournament. Earlier, the Indian team had also achieved the distinction of becoming continental champion in the year 2023 and 2024. With this resounding title win, the Indian team has also sealed its ticket for the upcoming FIH Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup.
Both teams adopted a very aggressive approach in the first quarter of the final match, but India maintained its composure amidst China’s strong home crowd. As soon as the second quarter started, in the 17th minute, forward Sanika Chandrakant Mane showed lightning speed and scored a brilliant field goal by beating the Chinese goalkeeper. Along with this, each member of the support staff who strengthens the team physically and mentally behind the scenes will be honored with a cash reward of Rs 1.5 lakh each. This victory is an open declaration of the golden era of Indian grassroots hockey and the country’s strong claim in the upcoming FIH Junior World Cup.
