UPSC Recruitment 2026: Direct recruitment for 212 posts including Assistant Professor; Application process starts, know department wise vacancies and last date


Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the total number of vacancies under various ministries of the Central Government, Delhi Government and Ladakh Administration. 212 vacant posts Online applications have been invited for Direct Recruitment by Selection. Advertisement number issued by the commission 11/2026 Under this, appointments will be made for Assistant Professor (Medical), Assistant Public Prosecutor, Assistant Editor and various specialist doctors. Interested and eligible candidates can fill their form through the official online portal of UPSC by the prescribed date.

As per the notification issued by UPSC, the division of posts and related departments is as follows:

  • Assistant Public Prosecutor: 140 Posts (Directorate of Prosecution, Home Department, Delhi Government)

  • Specialist Grade-III Assistant Professor (General Medicine): 60 Posts (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare)

  • Specialist Grade-III Assistant Professor (Anatomy): 04 posts (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare)

  • Public Law Officer/District Litigation Officer/Law Officer: 04 Posts (Law and Justice Department, Union Territory Ladakh)

  • Assistant Editor: 02 Posts (Indian Bureau of Mines, Ministry of Mines)

  • Specialist Grade-II (Junior Scale) – Anaesthesiology: 01 Post (New Delhi Municipal Council – NDMC)

  • Specialist Grade-II (Junior Scale) – Pediatrics: 01 Post (New Delhi Municipal Council – NDMC)

  • Assistant Professor (General Medicine and Anatomy): MBBS with Post Graduate Degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant subject from a recognized institute and at least 3 years of teaching experience (as Senior Resident/Tutor/Demonstrator etc.) after obtaining PG degree.

  • Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP): Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university and at least 3 years of regular advocacy experience at the Bar.

  • Assistant Editor: Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Mass Communication, or Degree in Economics/ Statistics/ English with Diploma in Journalism with 3 years of editing/ publishing experience.

  • Pay Scale: 7th Pay Commission for Specialist Grade-III Assistant Professor and Specialist Grade-II Posts pay level-11 (Plus NPA) will be payable. Whereas for the post of Assistant Public Prosecutor Pay Level-10 And for Assistant Editor Pay Level-07 Will remain in force.

  • Age Limit: The maximum age limit for various posts is fixed at 35 to 40 years. As per rules, reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST and Divyang category) will be given relaxation of 3 to 10 years in the upper age limit.

  • Application Fee: Only for male candidates of General (UR), OBC and EWS category. ₹25 The application fee is fixed. Women candidates, SC, ST and Disabled (PwBD) candidates will not have to pay any kind of fee.

  • Last date of application (for most posts): 02 October 2026 (by 6:00 pm).

  • Last Date for Ladakh Administration Post: 09 October 2026 (by 6:00 pm).
