Shiv Sahay Awasthi CEO UPRRDA, while giving information about pothole free in the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, said that the maintenance of the roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is being continuously monitored. At present, 2,405 routes, totaling 17,726.544 km are under maintenance under 05 year maintenance period, while 809 routes, totaling 2,484.205 km are under maintenance under Post-DLP. The maintenance works of these routes are being monitored through the e-Marg portal. Under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, a review meeting was called for pothole removal and maintenance works of the roads of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana under the Uttar Pradesh Rural Road Development Agency. Principal Secretary Rural Development Shri Saurabh Babu along with officials of other departments were present in the meeting. The Chief Minister directed that In view of the upcoming festivals, all the roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana should be made pothole-free and accessible on priority basis by getting necessary repair, renovation and maintenance work done.
Shri Awasthi said that currently 3,039 routes have been inspected, out of which 2,914 routes have been found to be approximately 96 percent satisfactory. At the same time, corrective work is being done on 125 unsatisfactory routes. The department is ensuring transparency and accountability in maintenance works through regular inspections, geotagging, online billing and digital monitoring. Monthly bills are uploaded by the contractor on the e-Marg portal, which are verified by engineers. Payment is processed as per the prescribed maintenance rates and after issuance of CCL, payment is made by PIU to the concerned firm/contractor through e-Marg portal. With this system, road connectivity in rural areas is being made better, safer and easier and quality maintenance is being ensured.
