
There is an important news for the people who are waiting for quick and cheap settlement of long pending traffic challans, electricity and water bill disputes, check bounce and small civil suits. The date of National Lok Adalat to be held on September 12 has been rescheduled by Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) and Traffic Police.
This decision has been taken in view of the important summit to be held in the capital on September 12 and 13 and administrative security arrangements. Now this Rashtriya Lok Adalat will be held on 10 October 2026 (second Saturday) in all the district court premises. In such a situation, the drivers who want to get their challan settled will now have to wait for October 10.
Special benches will sit in all the district courts of various states including Delhi from 10:00 am on October 10, 2026:

All Major Court Complexes of Delhi: Tis Hazari Court, Karkardooma Court, Patiala House Court, Rohini Court, Saket Court, Dwarka Court and Rouse Avenue Court Complex.

Apart from this, pending cases will also be heard in Delhi High Court, Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Permanent Lok Adalats, and District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions.
To settle traffic challan in Lok Adalat, it is mandatory to download online token or challan slip in advance. Under the new schedule, the traffic police has issued important instructions:

New date of slip download: Drivers can access the official Lok Adalat portal of Delhi Traffic Police. From 10:00 am on 5th October 2026 You will be able to download your challan slip.

Daily and total limit: To control the load on the server and crowd in the court, there will be a maximum quota of 50,000 challan slips per day, and the booking will stop once the total limit of 2 lakh challans is reached.

Which invoices will be included: All compoundable pending traffic challans till June 30, 2026 can be settled through this Lok Adalat.
In Lok Adalat, the challan is disposed of based on the mutual consent of both the parties (traffic police and vehicle owner) and the discretion of the judge:

Compoundable Violation: Challans like driving without helmet, not wearing seat belt, crossing zebra crossing, driving in wrong direction, parking in no-parking, not having pollution certificate (PUC) or not having valid insurance are included in Lok Adalat.

Huge relaxation in fine: If the challan is issued due to technical glitch or camera fault, the court can forgive it completely. In other cases, considering the circumstances and the financial condition of the driver, the amount of fine is reduced to nominal (eg ₹ 100 to ₹ 500).

No exemption in non-compoundable cases: Serious cases related to drunk and driving, performing dangerous stunts or causing fatal accidents are not directly forgiven in the Lok Adalat.

Check Invoice: Check the status of pending challan of your vehicle by visiting the Parivahan Seva portal (echallan.parivahan.gov.in) or the state traffic police website.

Book tokens on 5th October: Visit the Lok Adalat website of the traffic police and enter your vehicle number on October 5 at 10 am and select the court complex for which you get the slot.

Please take printout: Be sure to take a printout of the downloaded challan slip, which will mention your court name, court room number and time slot.

Arrive on time for October 10th: On the scheduled date (10 October 2026), appear before the magistrate in the concerned court with your vehicle’s RC, driving license, ID proof and challan slip. Get your challan cleared forever by getting the receipt issued there on the basis of agreement.
