Chief Medical Officer of Kanpur city Indradev Singh has termed the allegations of distributing expired syrup to the flood victims as baseless. After investigation, the CMO clarified that Trimethoprim and Sulfamethoxazole IP syrup was not distributed in the flood relief camp organized on 02 September. He denied the related news and said that the departmental records and the status of medicine stock were contrary to the allegations.
According to the records, the said syrup was received in the drug warehouse Kanpur Nagar in the year 2025. After this, the syrup was distributed to all community health centers and primary health centers by March 2025. At present the medicine of the said batch is not available at any community health center or primary health center. During the investigation, the stock register maintained for flood relief was also seen. Not a single entry for Trimethoprim & Sulfamethoxazole IP Syrup was found in the register. In such a situation, the fact that the said syrup was distributed in the flood camp on 02 September is not confirmed by the departmental records.
Chief Medical Officer Inderdev Singh said on the basis of investigation that the said syrup was not distributed in the flood camp and the allegations of distribution of expired medicine are baseless. He has denied the related news. Departmental records mention the medicine being procured in the year 2025 and distributed to health centers by March 2025.
