  • Delivery of subsidy to the right beneficiary: To ensure direct benefit transfer (DBT) and subsidy up to ₹300 under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) directly into the bank account of the actual beneficiary without any middleman.

  • Digitization of Database: To authenticate the records of all active LPG customers with Aadhaar card and biometric data.

What will be the loss if e-KYC is not done?

If you do not complete your e-KYC process before the scheduled deadline of August 31, you may face the following problems:

  • Disadvantages of subsidy: The Central Government LPG subsidy amount coming into your bank account will be blocked permanently or temporarily.

  • Cylinder will have to be purchased at market price: Due to cessation of subsidy, you will have to purchase each refill cylinder at the full non-subsidized commercial rate (market price).

  • Blockage in cylinder booking: In many cases, gas accounts found unverified may be put in ‘suspended’ or ‘hold’ category, making it difficult to book a new gas cylinder.

How to do LPG e-KYC from mobile app sitting at home? (Step-by-Step Guide)

To save consumers from visiting the gas agency, companies have provided the facility of e-KYC through mobile through face authentication:

  1. Your gas company’s official mobile app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store (e.g.: IndianOil ONE, Hello BPCLOr HP Pay) download.

  2. Along with this, the official website of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) ‘Aadhaar FaceRD App’ Also install it in your phone.

  3. Open your Gas app and log in with consumer number or registered mobile number.

  4. By going to the profile or menu section of the app ‘LPG e-KYC’ / ‘Aadhaar KYC’ Select the option.

  5. Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar card number and OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.

  6. Now the option of face authentication will open on the screen. Keep your face still in front of the camera and blink your eyes.

  7. Once the face is successfully scanned, your e-KYC will be completed online and a confirmation message will appear on the screen.

How to go to gas agency (distributor) and get biometrics done?

If your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhar card or there is a technical problem in face-scanning, you can also choose the offline mode:

  1. Go to your nearest concerned gas distributor (agency) office.

  2. Carry with you the original Aadhaar Card, LPG consumer passbook (Gas Diary/Book) and the phone connected to the gas connection.

  3. Place your thumb on the biometric fingerprint scanner or iris scanner available with the gas agency employee.

  4. Once the fingerprint matches, your connection will be immediately marked ‘e-KYC Verified’ on the dealer portal.
