Rahul Gandhi’s protest at Sansad Marg police station: Congress leaders came out in support of pellet gun victim, BJP said ‘anarchy’

Political activity intensified outside Delhi’s Sansad Marg police station when Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi sat on a dharna in support of Sahil Lochan, a student who was injured by a pellet gun. Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that his protest will not end until an FIR is registered under relevant sections in this matter. Amidst this high-voltage drama, the Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly hit back at the Congress Party, terming the protest as “politics of anarchy”.

Rahul Gandhi has been sitting in the police station premises for three hours

According to the information received, Rahul Gandhi has been sitting on strike in the premises of Sansad Marg police station in Delhi for the last 3 hours. A large number of Congress workers are also present with him and tight security arrangements have been made in the area. The policemen are continuously trying to convince and pacify them.

This information has come to light quoting police sources that the police has taken up the complaint given by the victim Sahil. Since the cases related to the violence at Jantar Mantar are being investigated by the Crime Branch, this complaint will also be handed over to the Crime Branch for further investigation.

Victim Sahil Lochan expressed his pain

Sahil Lochan, a victim of the pellet gun incident, while sharing his story, said that he was attacked with a pellet gun near Connaught Place on July 20. After this serious incident, he was immediately admitted to Lady Hardinge Hospital, from where he was later referred to AIIMS. He underwent two surgeries at AIIMS, but despite this his eyesight has not completely recovered and he cannot see clearly. The victim alleges that he had given a 7-page written complaint through his lawyer on August 14, but the police has not yet registered an FIR in this case.

BJP’s sharp attack: ‘This is an attempt to divert attention from politics’

Reacting to this dharna and protest by Congress, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad made a scathing attack. He said that it is extremely unfortunate that opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is indulging in such politics which can be called completely anarchic politics. He said that Rahul Gandhi has sat on strike at the Parliament Street Police Station without any prior permission or official information.

Ravi Shankar Prasad further said that the police had already informed him that an FIR has already been registered in connection with this incident and an impartial investigation into the matter is underway. Apart from this, the Honorable Supreme Court has also constituted a high-level committee to investigate this. The BJP alleged that this move by the Congress is a deliberate attempt to divert people’s attention from the recent political and ideological issues primarily related to Vande Mataram, which proves that they do not follow any law and rule of the country.
