Monsoon became active again in Delhi-NCR today: Alert of light to moderate rain in many areas, know how the weather will be for the whole week.


The weather patterns have changed once again today due to the activity of monsoon winds in the national capital Delhi and surrounding NCR areas (Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad). According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital will be generally cloudy today and light to moderate rain may be seen in many areas during morning and afternoon. There is a possibility of light drizzle or shower at some places during the evening and night, which will provide relief to the people from the humid and sticky heat that has been going on for the last few days.

Today’s temperature and weather conditions

  • Maximum Temperature: It is expected to be around 33°C to 35°C.

  • Minimum Temperature: It is likely to be recorded between 26°C to 28°C.

  • Humidity: The humidity level in the morning will remain between 75% to 90%, due to which there may be a feeling of humidity in the afternoon.

  • wind speed: Winds are expected to blow from south-south-eastern direction at a speed of 4 to 10 km/hour.

How will the weather be this week? (weekly forecast)

According to the Meteorological Department, the presence of monsoon trough will continue in Delhi-NCR for the next few days:

  • 20 August (Thursday): The sky will be generally cloudy. One or two spells of light to moderate rain may occur during the day and sporadic showers at night. The temperature will be between 27°C to 33°C.

  • 21st and 22nd August (Friday and Saturday): Partly to moderately cloudy sky with very light rain or drizzle at some places. The maximum temperature will remain stable around 33°C to 34°C.

  • 23rd and 24th August (Sunday and Monday): There will be a slight reduction in rain activities, but due to cloudy sky the intensity of sunlight will remain less. A slight increase of 1-2 degrees can be seen in the temperature.

Caution regarding traffic and waterlogging

During the rains, there may be a situation of waterlogging and slow traffic speed in low-lying areas and major intersections of Delhi and NCR. Daily commuters have been advised to check traffic advisories before leaving home and drive safely during rains.
