Yogi government strict on negligence in treatment of Ayushman patients, action against 866 hospitals


Lucknow, August 18: The Yogi government is continuously taking action against the hospitals associated with the Ayushman scheme for negligence, violation of rules and financial irregularities in the treatment of patients holding Ayushman cards. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, action has been taken against a total of 866 hospitals from the year 2020 to 2026. Of these, maximum 648 hospitals were de-empanelled while 61 hospitals were suspended from the scheme. The specialty has been de-empanelled in 17 hospitals. Apart from this, penalty action has been taken against 140 hospitals and a fine of more than Rs 8.5 crore has been imposed. So far, more than Rs 4 crore fine has been recovered from them.

Action taken against 318 hospitals so far in this financial year

Sachij CEO Archana Verma said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is very serious about the quality treatment of Ayushman card holder patients. In such a situation, as per the intention of CM Yogi, continuous action is taken against the hospitals which are negligent in the treatment of patients and do not meet the standards. He said that in the year 2026, action was taken against 318 hospitals for negligence. Of these, 242 hospitals were de-empanelled for not fulfilling 35 indicators of the Government of India, while 61 hospitals were suspended. These also include de-empanelment of specialties of 15 hospitals. Earlier in the year 2025, action was taken against 16 hospitals, in which de-empanelment of 14 hospitals and specialty de-empanelment of two hospitals was done.

Penalty imposed on 140 hospitals in last two years
CEO of Sachij said that action was taken against 27 hospitals in the year 2024. Whereas action was taken against 203 hospitals in the year 2023, 41 in the year 2022, 44 in the year 2021 and 77 hospitals in the year 2020. Apart from this, a penalty of Rs 3,45,66,861 was imposed against 60 hospitals in the financial year 2025-26. Of these, Rs 3,19,27,958 has been recovered from the hospitals so far while the recovery process for the remaining amount is underway. Similarly, in the financial year 2026-27, till now a penalty of Rs 5,07,59,491 has been imposed on 80 hospitals. Till now an amount of Rs 1,17,72,883 has been recovered while an amount of Rs 3,89,86,608 remains. A penalty of Rs 8,53,26,352 was imposed on 140 hospitals for both the financial years combined. Of these, Rs 4,37,00,841 has been recovered. Even after penalty, suspension action will be taken if hospitals do not meet the standards.

The CEO said that on the basis of data analytics, the State Anti Fraud Unit is identifying cases of negligence in the treatment of Ayushman patients, not meeting the standards, repeatedly admitting the same patients, sending the same report and showing OPD patients admitted in IPD, after which action is being taken against these hospitals.
