The box office battle between the two big films ‘Awarapan 2’ and ‘Batwara 1947’, released in theaters on the occasion of Independence Day, has now reached a very interesting turn. Within the first three days of its release, the box office competition is starting to look completely one-sided. Actor Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited sequel film ‘Awarapan 2’ has created a stir at the box office, leaving Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta starrer period drama film ‘Bantwara 1947’ far behind in terms of earnings. Both the films got full benefit of the Independence Day holidays, but Emraan Hashmi’s film has taken the initial lead and has unilaterally captured the box office.
‘Awarapan 2’ shines at the box office, made bumper collection in three days
Emraan Hashmi’s comeback and much-awaited film ‘Awarapan 2’ has taken a record-breaking start at the box office. The film made an impressive net collection of Rs 22 crore in India on the first day of its release i.e. Friday. After this, on Saturday, there was a huge jump of about 55 percent in the film’s earnings and it did a business of Rs 33.75 crore. At the same time, according to the initial data of box office tracker Sacknilk, the film has made a strong hold on its first Sunday i.e. third day and has collected Rs 26.25 crore. With this, the total three-day net collection of ‘Awarapan 2’ in India has reached Rs 82 crore, while its gross collection has crossed the figure of Rs 98.40 crore.
The pace of ‘Partition 1947’ slowed down, the difference between the two films is almost three times
On the other hand, veteran actor Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s film ‘Bantwara 1947’ also had a decent opening in theatres. The film opened its account on Friday with a net earning of Rs 5.75 crore. As soon as the weekend benefit was received on Saturday, there was a jump in the film’s earnings and it collected Rs 13.50 crore, but on Sunday, there was a slight decline in its collection and it did a business of around Rs 7.50 crore. If the total figures of both the films are compared, ‘Awarapan 2’ has earned almost three times more than ‘Bantwara 1947’ in the first three days. This huge gap was visible from day one, when Emraan Hashmi’s film had earned almost four times more than Sunny Deol’s film. Now it will be very interesting to see which film is able to maintain its strong hold at the box office during the working days.
