Adding a new chapter to the history of India’s national security, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has recently revealed in detail the strategic thinking and inside story of ‘Operation Vermillion’ for the first time. This military operation was carried out within just 88 hours in response to the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which shocked the entire country. NSA Doval during an interview recalled the tense period when India, planning an all-out war against Pakistan-backed terrorism, had made a concrete plan to destroy the terrorists and their equipment.
PM Modi’s immediate and strict reaction after Pahalgam attack
Recalling the tense atmosphere immediately after the Pahalgam massacre, NSA Ajit Doval told how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had canceled his foreign trip midway and called a high-level meeting at the airport as soon as he landed in Delhi. Sharing the Prime Minister’s strong reaction, Doval said that PM Modi’s first question as soon as he landed at the airport was who were the people behind this cowardly attack. The Prime Minister had given clear instructions that terrorists should not be spared at any cost.
According to the NSA, PM Modi had said in strong words, “Whether they are on the ground, in the sky or in the underworld… wherever they are hiding, we have to find and eliminate them.” Praising the intelligence agencies, Doval said that in a very short time the country’s intelligence machinery gathered accurate inputs, due to which the Indian Army without wasting a moment identified the culprits and took precise and decisive action.
“Do not consider India’s tolerance as weakness”
Taking his point forward, Ajit Doval bluntly said that when it comes to the sovereignty and security of the country, India is completely ready to go to any extent and there is no limit set for it. He said in a warning tone that we have the capability to fight till the last drop of blood, and India’s generosity and extreme tolerance should never be considered its weakness.
Doval referred to the horrific incident in which terrorists had targeted innocent civilians on the basis of religion and faith. The terrorists crossed the limits and showed audacity to the extent that they told the victims to go and tell Modi to do whatever he can. In this gruesome attack on 22 April 2025, 26 innocent people lost their lives, after which India took a strong stance and gave a clear message to Pakistan that harboring terrorism and not taking action against terrorists will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
