We all love the monsoon season with its heavy rains and pleasant weather. In this season, everyone feels like eating pakodas, tea and cold and sour things. But do you know that the curd which you consider daily as nectar for your health, can prove to be harmful for your body during rainy days? According to Ayurveda experts and health experts, our digestive power becomes weak during monsoon, due to which even a little carelessness in eating habits can lead to many serious stomach related problems. Let us know why one should stay away from curd during the rainy season and what things are very important to keep in mind while consuming it.

Why is eating curd prohibited in monsoon from Ayurvedic point of view?

In the ancient texts of Ayurveda, strict rules for eating and drinking according to the season have been given. During the rainy season, the humidity in the environment increases a lot, due to which the Vata and Kapha doshas of the body start getting unbalanced. Curd is sour and cold in nature, which increases Kapha dosha rapidly. When the digestive fire slows down during monsoon, the body is not able to digest this heavy and sticky food properly. This is the reason why complaints of sore throat, cold, sinus, acidity and joint pain become common after eating curd in this season.

Stomach infection and its bad effect on the digestive system

During the rainy season, due to humidity, bacteria and fungus grow rapidly in the air and water, which has a direct impact on our stomach. In this season, milk and its products start spoiling very quickly. If you eat stale or sour curd during monsoon, it can cause food poisoning, stomach ache, diarrhea and indigestion. This condition can be even more painful for people with a weak digestive system, due to which the body starts feeling lethargic and weak.

If you have to eat curd, then what should you take special care of?

If you love eating curd and cannot live without it, then it is extremely important to follow some important precautions during monsoon. The first thing is to always use fresh and homemade sweet curd, do not eat sour curd at all. Apart from this, instead of eating plain curd, add roasted cumin powder, black salt or black pepper to it, which balances its effect. Never consume curd at night or after sunset, as it can completely spoil the digestion.
