During the holy month of Shravani Mela (Shrawani Mela 2026), devotees have started gathering in Deoghar and surrounding areas of Jharkhand. Jharkhand Government Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu held a high-level review meeting to take stock of the preparations and security arrangements of the fair. The biggest and important decision taken in this meeting is that during the Sawan fair, the facility of ‘out of turn’ i.e. direct darshan without queuing for any VIP or VVIP will be completely banned.
Top priority given to the convenience and easy water supply of common devotees
Every year in the month of Shravan, lakhs of Kanwariyas and devotees stand in queues for hours waiting for their turn, but many times due to VIP movement and special recommendations, the queues of common devotees had to be stopped, causing huge chaos. To end this problem and long wait of the devotees, this time the state government has issued clear instructions whether VIP or common citizen, everyone will have to perform Jalabhishek of Baba by passing through the same queue in a systematic manner. Minister Sudivya Kumar has given blunt instructions to the officials that the trust and convenience of the general public is paramount, hence VIP relaxation will not be given in the rules at any level.
Administrative preparations intensified regarding security and traffic arrangements
Police forces and administrative officers have been deployed at every nook and corner to maintain law and order in this state fair, which is considered very important from geographical and religious point of view. During the review meeting, the Minister reviewed in detail all the important aspects like route liner, drinking water system, health camps, power supply and cleanliness. Taking lessons from the experiences of previous years, this time the help of special technology and CCTV cameras is being taken for crowd management, so that any emergency can be dealt with immediately and there is no scope for incidents like stampede.
Special arrangements for Kanwariyas, strict instructions given to officials
The Jharkhand government and the local district administration are working to ensure that this year’s Shravani Fair proves to be the most accessible and safe fair ever.
