There is every possibility of torrential rains along with thunderstorms in various parts of the state for the next two to three days. While on Sunday people were suffering from the scorching heat and humidity and the temperature was recorded about four degrees above normal, now the temperature is expected to drop drastically due to the rain. Meteorologists believe that these monsoon activities will provide relief to the people of the state from this scorching heat.
Weather patterns will change in West UP, 15 year record may be broken
Heavy to torrential rains are expected in the districts of Western Uttar Pradesh between July 28 and July 31. The Meteorological Department estimates that this long period of three-four days will completely put a break on the heat and humidity in West UP. Especially in Meerut and its surrounding areas, this time the rainfall in the month of July can break the record of the last one and a half decade. In the month of July 2018, 544.4 mm rainfall was recorded in Meerut, whereas so far in July this year, 491.7 mm rainfall has been recorded, which is just a few millimeters away from the previous record. This period of rain will be at its peak between July 28 and 30, due to which a significant drop in temperature will be recorded.
Yellow and orange alert issued in more than 40 districts
The effect of the weather system originating from the Bay of Bengal is clearly visible on large parts of Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in more than 40 districts of the state. Major districts where warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms have been issued include Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Kasganj, Saharanpur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Sitapur, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Barabanki, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Varanasi, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Mau, Azamgarh, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabirnagar and Basti are included. Additionally, a special orange alert has been declared in Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich districts, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. The administration has advised people to remain alert and stay in safe places during bad weather.
