The spark that broke out in Patna, the capital of Bihar, now seems to be spreading like wildfire in other districts of the state also. After Patna, now the anger of students and youth has erupted on the streets in major cities of Bihar. The latest case has come to light from Katihar district, where during the protest outside the Collectorate (DM Office) complex, huge tension spread when a heated clash took place between the police and the protesters. Seeing the situation going out of control, the angry mob pelted stones at the DM office, in response to which the police took a tough stance and resorted to lathicharge and released tear gas shells. This violent confrontation has created an atmosphere of chaos in the entire Katihar city. On the other hand, in Munger district too, the youth have raised a loud voice by opening a front against the government and administration, due to which the entire administrative department has lost sleep.

Katihar Collectorate turns into battlefield, police lathi charge after stone pelting

According to the information received, a large number of youth and local people had come to protest peacefully outside the Katihar District Magistrate’s office regarding various demands and issues related to student interest. Within no time the protesters became so furious that they tried to break the police barricades and enter the DM office premises. When the policemen tried to stop them, a scuffle broke out between the two sides and some miscreants started pelting stones at the administrative building. Some policemen are also reported to have been injured in stone pelting. To control the situation, the police immediately used force and dispersed the crowd with batons. After this incident, heavy police force has been deployed in the entire area and the situation is being closely monitored.

Anger flared up in Munger too, youth shouted against administrative policies

Parallel to this incident in Katihar, fierce pictures of protests have also emerged from Munger district of Bihar. In Munger, youth and various student organizations took to the streets and raised slogans against the government and roared in support of their demands. The youth allege that the administration is continuously ignoring their legitimate demands and problems, which will not be tolerated anymore. The way the movement has spread in Katihar and Munger after Patna, it is a clear indication that in the coming days, this protest can become a big political and law and order challenge for the government in entire Bihar.

Sharp reaction from opposition parties, targeting the government

Opposition parties have also started cornering the government over this rumor burning in various districts of Bihar and the police action. Opposition leaders say that when the youth raise their voice for employment and their rights, instead of listening to them, the government uses sticks and bullets on them, which is completely undemocratic. On the other hand, top officials of the local administration and police are continuously appealing for maintaining peace and talking about identifying the miscreants and taking strict legal action against them.
