Want to get rid of back pain forever? Do Akarna Dhanurasana every morning, know the correct method of this yoga which relieves stress and makes the body flexible.

Due to today’s unhealthy lifestyle, working long hours sitting on a chair and less physical activity, back pain, spinal stiffness and mental stress have become common problems. According to yoga experts, ‘Aakarna Dhanurasana’ i.e. ‘Bow Pose Variant’ is a very effective and miraculous yoga asana to get relief from all these problems naturally. In Sanskrit language, ‘Akarna’ means pulling till the ear and ‘Dhanurasana’ means bow posture. While doing this asana, the shape of the body becomes just like an archer standing ready to shoot an arrow by pulling the string till the ear.

Provides relief from back pain and makes spine flexible

Regular practice of Akarna Dhanurasana deeply stretches the muscles of the spine, lower back and pelvic area. This stretch makes the spine strong and highly flexible, providing amazing relief from sciatica and chronic back pain. Apart from this, the process of inhaling and exhaling deeply while doing this asana provides sufficient oxygen to the brain, due to which the mental fatigue, stress and anxiety of the day goes away in a jiffy.

Helpful in reducing belly fat and improving the digestive system

Apart from back pain, this yoga asana also puts direct pressure on the stomach and core muscles. Its practice gently massages the internal glands and organs of the stomach, which strengthens the digestive system and provides relief from problems like constipation or gas. This asana also proves to be very helpful in burning the excess fat accumulated around the stomach and waist and in improving the overall posture of the body.

Correct way to do Akarna Dhanurasana and necessary precautions

To do this asana, first of all sit on the ground in Dandasana and spread your legs straight in front. Now while inhaling, hold the toe of the left foot with the right hand and the toe of the right foot with the left hand. After this, bend the right leg and bring its thumb near the right ear with a stretch, just like the string of a bow is pulled. Stay in this posture for a few seconds and then come back to normal position. Repeat the same process with the other leg. Keep in mind that if you have serious spinal problems, slip disc, hernia or high blood pressure, then practice it only under the supervision of a yoga expert.
