Meanwhile, a strange incident was witnessed in the main rally led by former Chief Minister and supreme leader of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Mamata Banerjee. As soon as TMC’s All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee arrived on the stage, senior party leader and MP Kalyan Banerjee suddenly left the stage, due to which various speculations have started in the political circles of the state.

According to eyewitnesses and media reports, the incident occurred when Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was delivering his address from the stage. At that time, Kalyan Banerjee was present on the main stage along with senior leaders like Saugata Roy and Mahua Moitra. Suddenly Kalyan Banerjee got up from his seat and left the stage angrily. When reporters asked him the reason for his sudden departure from the stage, he called it a very “personal reason” and said that he would return later. However, a section of TMC supporters claim that they had set out to go to the court in connection with some important legal matter of theirs. It is noteworthy that in his speech before leaving the stage, Kalyan Banerjee had highly praised the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.

While addressing the Martyr’s Day rally, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee took a very strict stance. Advocating a ‘new Trinamool’ in the party, he warned that those who are secretly moving closer to the BJP, the party no longer needs them. Despite this, he specifically mentioned the struggles of Abhishek Banerjee, Mahua Moitra and Kalyan Banerjee while praising the senior leaders who were preparing for the rally last night. Mamata Banerjee, along with senior leaders like Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen, remained at the venue throughout the night, while party workers guarded the stage till morning.
Allegations of vandalism on stage at midnight, target on BJP supported goons
While addressing supporters from the venue around midnight, Mamata Banerjee made serious allegations. He claimed that the families of the martyrs of 13 Youth Congress workers killed in police firing in 1993 were being prevented from attending the tribute meeting. He alleged that BJP-backed anti-social elements vandalized the main stage, tore banners and cut off mike and electricity connections. Mamata Banerjee said that this cowardly attack has been carried out by BJP-backed goons led by a person with a criminal background, but TMC workers will face every challenge boldly.
