Lahore, 9 April (HS). Former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood was on Monday appointed the head coach of the Pakistan men's cricket team for the upcoming series against New Zealand. The Pakistani team will play a five-match T20 series against New Zealand in Rawalpindi and Lahore from 18 to 27 April.
Additionally, Wahab Riaz has been named as the senior team manager, while Mohammad Yousuf and Saeed Ajmal will be the batting and bowling coaches respectively. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave the above information on Monday.
Pakistan was looking for a full-time head coach, which at one time also included players like Shane Watson. Mahmood's current tenure has been fixed only for the upcoming tour. Mahmood has previously served as the bowling coach of the national team until 2019 and has also coached in the Pakistan Super League.
Pakistan is without a full-time coach following the departure of Grant Bradburn along with former director of cricket Mickey Arthur.
