During his visit to Varanasi, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has expressed his heartfelt gratitude and congratulations for the approval of two important mega highway and elevated corridor projects worth a total of ₹ 25,445.96 crore for Varanasi under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that the Prime Minister has always given top priority to the all-round development of Kashi. Under his leadership, Varanasi is continuously developing as a world class religious, cultural, tourism and economic centre. Now, the construction of these two important elevated corridor projects will bring revolutionary changes in the traffic system of Varanasi and the city will get permanent relief from the serious problem of traffic jam.

He said that the first project among the approved projects is the construction of Varuna River Corridor at a cost of ₹10,998.32 crore, under which a modern elevated corridor will be developed along the banks of Varuna River connecting National Highway-31 (NH-31) to Varanasi Ring Road. This corridor will reduce traffic pressure within the city and ensure fast, safe and easy commuting. The second important project will be developed as Ganga River Corridor at a cost of ₹14,447.64 crore. Under this, a six-lane modern elevated corridor will be built on the banks of River Ganga between National Highway-19 (NH-19) and Varanasi Ring Road, which also includes construction of a modern cable-stayed bridge. This project will be an excellent example of modern engineering and will take the transportation capacity of Varanasi to new heights.
