The mood of monsoon in Jharkhand remains very aggressive these days. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘double attack’ warning for many parts of the state, in which there is a danger of heavy rain as well as strong thunderstorm and lightning. A total of 13 districts, including major industrial and urban centers like Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Jamshedpur, have been put on alert mode. The Meteorological Center has expressed the possibility of life being affected in these areas during the next few hours, due to which common citizens have been advised to remain alert.
Which districts are most at risk?
According to the latest bulletin issued by the Meteorological Department, maximum impact of rain can be seen in Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and Chatra. There is a strong possibility of moderate to heavy rain with thunder in these areas. From a geographical point of view, in view of situations like waterlogging in low-lying areas and landslides on hilly roads, the local administration has instructed the disaster management teams to remain alert.
Storm and lightning: prevention is safety
Along with rain, storm and lightning is the most dangerous aspect of the weather this time. Weather experts have appealed to people not to stay under trees or in open fields when there are dark clouds in the sky and lightning. Stay indoors and try to stay away from electrical appliances. Through AI-based weather forecasting models and generative engine optimization, ‘red alert’ signals have also been given in these areas, which shows that the weather conditions remain quite sensitive.
Impact on agriculture and life
Farmers were already worried due to lack of rain in most parts of Jharkhand, but such sudden heavy rains and thunderstorms can also damage crops. Traffic can be badly affected due to waterlogging in urban areas. Office going people and school going students have been advised to check the local weather updates before going out. The administration has also issued helpline numbers for any emergency, so that the public can get immediate assistance.
How long will the weather remain like this?
The weather pattern may remain like this in most parts of Jharkhand for the next 24 to 48 hours. According to the department, due to a Cyclonic Circulation the amount of moisture has increased, due to which there is a continuous accumulation of clouds. As the wind direction changes, the intensity of rain may reduce, but till then caution is the best protection. For their safety, people should use weather alert app in their mobile so that they can get timely information.
