Amid the nationwide stir after the much-discussed donation theft scandal in the grand Ram temple of Ayodhya, ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’ has started the effort to change its entire functioning and organizational structure. Big and tough decisions are being taken at the administrative level to restore transparency, security and sanctity in temple management.
Taking the biggest action in this regard, the resignations of the former officials of the Trust have been accepted and preparations have been made to make the entire system digital and transparent.
Farewell to Champat Rai and Anil Mishra; Trust website update
The resignations of the then General Secretary of the Trust Champat Rai and Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra, who resigned taking moral responsibility after the offering theft controversy came to light, have been officially accepted.
-
Names and photographs removed: The official website of the Trust has been completely updated. The names, photos and all other details of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra have been removed from the site.
-
Now only 12 members are left: Out of this 15-member prestigious trust, now the details of only 12 officials and members are recorded on the website. These include Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Interim General Secretary Krishna Mohan, Treasurer Govind Dev Giri and other ex-officio and nominated members (like Nripendra Mishra, IAS Sanjay Prasad and Ayodhya DM Shashank Tripathi).
New team announced on July 22; Race for appointments to vacant posts
The phase of organizational changes in Ram Mandir Trust has intensified and many big announcements are going to be made in the upcoming Trust meeting to be held on 22 July 2026:
-
Formal seal on the post of General Secretary: According to sources, Dr. Krishnamohan, who was made the interim General Secretary in the meeting on 6th July, can formally take over this big responsibility on 22nd July. His name will be finalized in this meeting.
-
Entry of Ayodhya royal family: The process of filling three vacant posts is in the final stage. There is discussion that Ayodhya royal family member Yatindra Mohan Mishra can be included in the trust as a member.
-
Saints will get a place: Senior official of the Trust, Gopal Rao is continuously visiting various monasteries and temples of Ayodhya (like Shri Ramballabhakunj, Haridham Gopal Peeth) and meeting the saints. Any prominent saint of Ayodhya like Jagadguru Vasudevacharya, Mahant Mithilesh Nandini Sharan or officer Rajkumar Das can also be included in the new team of the Trust.
Big decision: Consideration of returning donations to donors!
After the theft case came to light, many big devotees and donors had alleged that neither any receipt was given for the valuable items (gold and silver artefacts) donated by them nor were they kept safe in the sanctum sanctorum.
Lack of space Main reason: Amidst these serious allegations, the Trust is now seriously considering returning these valuable items gifted by the devotees. The Trust believes that there is not enough space available inside the sanctum sanctorum to keep such a large number of artefacts made of gold, silver or other precious metals.
For transparency, now ‘every penny calculation’ will be visible on the website
To prevent any such financial irregularities or theft in future, the Trust has decided to implement a completely transparent system. Now the complete account of donations received by Ram Mandir will be made public every month on the website of the Trust:
-
What will be included: Complete details of donation boxes (hundi), cash income from donation counters, foreign money coming into Foreign Exchange Act (FCRA) accounts and interest received from various banks will be updated every month on the website.
There will be major reshuffle in these 5 major committees
In the upcoming meeting of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the five main committees formed for the smooth and safe operation of the temple will be reconstituted and new faces will be entered:
-
Construction Committee
-
Finance Committee
-
Audit Committee
-
Religious Committee
-
Managing Committee
Apart from this, to streamline the security arrangements, a major reshuffle has been made in the Ram Mandir control room, the old personnel have been dismissed and the new team has taken command of the entry into the complex. The SIT investigation has also revealed that the main accused of the theft is a person with a tainted past who had earlier been dismissed from the bank.
