Jharkhand’s new image: ‘Not just minerals—our true strength lies in our natural beauty and culture,’ says Minister Sudivya Kumar.

Jharkhand has till now been known only as the hub of ‘mineral wealth’ in the country, but now the state government is taking rapid steps towards changing this perception. In a grand program organized recently, State Minister Sudivya Kumar presented a new perspective on the identity of Jharkhand. He said that Jharkhand is not only the land of coal, iron and other minerals, but its natural beauty, dense forests, waterfalls and rich tribal culture is the real heritage and identity of the state.

Tourism will become the basis of Jharkhand’s new economy

Minister Sudivya Kumar stressed that for the development of the state, there is a need to move away from ‘mineral based’ economy towards ‘tourism based’ economy. He said that Jharkhand has immense natural resources, which by properly promoting and developing infrastructure, the state can be made a major tourism destination on the world map. He said that the government is making new policies to promote eco-tourism and rural tourism, which will not only increase the revenue of the state but will also create employment opportunities on a large scale for the local youth.

Resolve to save culture and natural heritage

During his address, the Minister also focused special attention on preserving the art, culture and traditions of Jharkhand. He said that the development journey of the state should be such that there should be modernity, but there should be no compromise with its roots and natural heritage. He appealed to the local people to protect their natural resources and cooperate with the government in making the state a ‘green and clean’ destination. This statement of the Minister is being seen as the new branding and marketing strategy of the state, which aims to give Jharkhand a positive and beautiful image outside the minerals.
