IPL betting, one accused arrested

Dhamtari, April 8 (HS). Arjuni police and cyber team have arrested the accused who was betting online through mobile. Cash of Rs 10995, two mobile phones and a motorcycle have been seized from the possession of the accused.

According to the information received from the police, police station in-charge Arjuni got information that a person named Sagar Chawla was playing online betting through mobile phone near village Telinasatti under bridge. On receiving the information, the police went to the place indicated by the informer and laid siege. Accused Sagar Chawla was arrested for providing online betting through mobile phones by making customers bet money on the win or loss of the IPL cricket match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.

The accused was arrested under Section 13 Gambling Act and Section 7 ChG Gambling Prohibition Act 2022 and sent on judicial remand.
