Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Melbourne, Australia in the second phase of his three-nation state visit. Senior officials of the Australian Government gave him a very warm welcome at the airport by giving him a formal ‘Guard of Honour’. After this, on reaching the hotel, the Indian expatriates made the entire atmosphere echo with slogans of “Modi-Modi” and “Vande Mataram”. Jugalbandi of didgeridoo and tabla won PM’s heart

A very unique fusion music of the cultures of India and Australia was presented to welcome Prime Minister Modi in Melbourne. The program witnessed a spectacular accompaniment of ‘Didgeridoo’, an ancient musical instrument developed by the Aboriginal people of Australia, and the Indian ‘Tabla’. PM Modi described this synergy between the two timeless instruments as a symbol of the deep cultural bond between the two countries and praised the artists Ron Murray and Sam Evans.

Symphony orchestra performance on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram

At the reception, the ‘Australian-Indian 10-piece Symphony Orchestra’ gave a heart-touching rendition of AR Rahman’s famous song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’. Along with this, the orchestra played the wonderful tune of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Prime Minister Modi said that this performance reflects the global popularity of ‘Vande Mataram’, especially at a time when we are celebrating its 150th anniversary. Music further strengthens the bilateral and humanitarian relations between our countries.

The magic of Kathak from ‘Asto Ma Sadgamaya’ to ‘Shiv Tandav’

The biggest USP of the cultural program was the Kathak dance presentation led by Melbourne’s famous dancer Sanchita Abrol. Sanchita and her team brought on stage a deep spiritual journey through dance. It began with the Vedic mantra ‘Asato Ma Sadgamaya’, followed by a powerful rendition of ‘Shiva Tandava’ symbolizing the cosmic dance (creation, destruction and reconstruction) of Lord Shiva. This mesmerizing Kathak dance ended with the sacred chanting of ‘Om Namah Shivay’, which left PM Modi emotional.

PM Modi will leave for New Zealand after bilateral talks

According to External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, during this visit, Prime Minister Modi will co-chair the third annual India-Australia Summit with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese. There will be bilateral talks on further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries in the fields of defence, trade and technology. After completing this important tour of Australia, PM Modi will leave for New Zealand on the last leg of his journey.
