
Bengaluru: Heavy rains continue in Malnad and coastal areas of Karnataka, and the Karnataka State Disaster Management Center has predicted heavy rains in many parts of the state for the next few days.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over some areas of Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Hassan and Chikkamagaluru districts on July 8. In this context, ‘Orange Alert’ has been declared in these seven districts and the Center Chief has made the public aware to take necessary precautions.
There is a possibility of rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 204 mm in these areas. Along with this, there is also a possibility of landslides at some places in the ghat areas on July 8.
High alert in coastal area: Sea waves are likely to increase in coastal areas of the state, and tourists and locals have been advised to stay away from recreational activities in coastal areas.
Dakshina Kannada (Mulki to Mangalore): Waves up to 3.5 meters high are likely till 2:30 pm on July 9.
Udupi (Byndoor to Kaup): Waves of 3.4 to 3.5 meters high are expected till 11:30 am on July 9.
Uttara Kannada (Majali to Bhatkal): Waves of 3.2 to 3.5 meters high are likely till 5:30 pm on July 9.
There is a possibility of moderate rainfall along with thunderstorm in the interior areas also. Varuna will continue to bless the coastal and Malnad districts as well as the southern interior districts. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is also expected in parts of Mysore, Bengaluru Rural and Chikkaballapur districts.
According to the weather department report, thunderstorms and moderate rainfall are likely at many places in Bengaluru city, Bengaluru South, Bellary, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Tumkur and Vijayanagar districts.
