There is a need to reflect on the tradition of joint family which is gradually ending: Ramnath Kovind

Udaipur, 08 April (HS). Former President Ramnath Kovind said that the elderly are not a burden, they are an asset. They are a wealth of experience. They are our property. Having elders with us is a reassurance. Elders are important in a family. Their usefulness is significant in every era and time. Elders have wealth of experience and strength of self-confidence.

Former President Ramnath Kovind was addressing a function organized on Monday on the occasion of completion of 12 years of Maa Draupadi Devi Anand Old Age Home operated under Tara Sansthan. He said that every family has its own story. Some stories are small, some are big. Our life is spent in listening and narrating them. Therefore, we should think that till date we have only taken. What have we given to the society? The day you get the feeling of giving, believe me, you will get double the pleasure in giving as you did in receiving.

The former President said that in today's era, due to increasing disintegration in the family and ambitions to attain material comforts, the youth of the family often leave the elderly parents of the family alone and go for employment and financial benefits. Material ambitions compel them to do so. There is no fault of his in this either. They have to do this to earn a living. Similarly, the second reason for elders living alone at home is that the tradition of joint family is gradually coming to an end in our country. We need to brainstorm on this. This also has to start from ourselves. Social and family responsibilities also have to be understood.

While giving the welcome address, Founder President of Tara Sansthan, Kalpana Goyal said that she got the inspiration to do such a noble work from her father. Earlier she used to get emotional after seeing such conditions of the elderly, but gradually after getting the opportunity to live with them and serve them, now she has developed courage and courage and enjoys serving them all.

Kailash Manav, founder of Narayan Seva Sansthan also expressed his views at the function. The program was conducted by Founder Secretary Deepesh Mittal. In the function, the children of 'Masti Ki Pathshala' run by Tara Sansthan gave an emotional presentation and staged a drama on the bhajan 'Ram Aayenge'. In this, the scene of Mother Shabari feeding false plums to Ram-Lakshman with great affection during their exile also left one emotional. After this, there was an elderly fashion show, in which the elderly brought alive the characters of Lata Mangeshkar, Arya Bhatt, Veer Savarkar, Kalpana Chawla, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Rani Lakshmibai, Swami Vivekananda, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Mary Kom.

Before this, Kovind met the elders one by one at Maa Draupadi Devi Anand Old Age Home and talked to them. He inquired about the well-being of many elders and kept asking them how they were feeling here. Kovind mingled so well with the elderly men and women that the entire campus echoed with laughter. When Kovind reached the medical ward of the elderly people of the institute, he got information about all the medical facilities there and learned about the health of the elderly people. Elderly Brij Kishore Sharma also sang a song in the same ward.
