The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has given another big chance to lakhs of class 12th students who could not crack the main examination or are not satisfied with their marks. The board has officially started the online application process for CBSE 12th Supplementary Exam 2026 (Supplementary Exam). This examination will be conducted on 28 July 2026. The board has also released the detailed schedule and eligibility criteria for this, so that students can fill their form on time without any mistake.

Which students can apply for CBSE 12th Supplementary Exam

According to the official guidelines issued by CBSE, some special eligibility rules have been fixed for participating in this supplementary examination. Mainly those students who appeared in the main examination 2026 as regular or private candidates and have come in ‘compartment’ category in any one subject can fill the form for this examination. Apart from this, students who want to improve their performance i.e. increase their marks in any one subject under ‘Improvement of Performance’, they have also been given full permission to appear in this examination.

Know what is the last date of application and rules of late fee

Students are advised to complete their applications within the stipulated time limit to avoid last minute technical glitches and rush. The respective schools will have to submit the list of their regular students online through the LOC (List of Candidates) portal. The last date to apply without any late fee is strictly limited as per the schedule set by the board. If any student fills the form after this deadline, he/she will be given one last chance to apply with heavy late fees, complete details of which have been made available on the official website of CBSE.

Exam will be held on 28th July, know admit card and new preparation pattern

CBSE has made it clear that the supplementary examinations for all subjects of class 12th will be conducted on the same day on 28th July 2026 at various designated examination centres. The syllabus and pattern of the exam will remain the same as the main exam. After the completion of the application process, the board will issue new admit cards (Supplementary Admit Card) of the candidates in the second or third week of July. Regular students will get their admit cards from their respective schools, while private candidates will have to download it directly from the official portal of CBSE.
