There has been a major and significant change in the top leadership of the Indian Air Force (IAF). In a bid to make the security of the country’s air borders more impenetrable, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit has officially taken charge as the new Vice Chief of the Air Staff. This new role of Air Marshal Dixit, known as an expert in military strategies and a highly experienced fighter pilot, is expected to give a new edge to the operational capabilities and modernization drives of the Indian Air Force.
Strategist of spectacular military journeys and challenging missions
Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit’s journey so far in the Indian Air Force has been very glorious and unmatched. Air Marshal Dixit, an alumnus of the National Defense Academy (NDA), was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Air Force in December 1986. He has a long and wide experience of flying modern fighter aircraft like Mirage-2000 during his illustrious career spanning nearly four decades. He is a ‘Qualified Flying Instructor’ as well as an ‘Experimental Test Pilot’ who has successfully led many important operations and commands of the Air Force on various forward fronts.
The new Vice Chief faces the big goal of self-reliance and modernization.
After taking charge as Deputy Chief of the Air Force, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit will have many big and important responsibilities on his shoulders. In view of the current global geopolitical situation and the changing patterns of air warfare, equipping the Indian Air Force with indigenous weapons, drone technology and state-of-the-art fighter aircraft (such as Tejas Mark-1A and AMCA) under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign will be among their top priorities. Along with this, keeping the Air Force prepared round the clock on the borders with China and Pakistan and establishing better diplomatic coordination between the three forces will also be a key part of his new strategic plan.
