Mamata Banerjee's attack on PM Modi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday claimed that if Prime Minister Modi comes to power for the third time, she will put all the opposition leaders in jail. He said the promise to crack down on corruption after June 4 meant that opposition leaders would be put behind bars after the Lok Sabha elections. The bugle of Lok Sabha elections has been sounded in the country and seven phases of voting will begin with the first phase on April 19 and the counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Opposition talks about 'saving corruption': PM Modi

Addressing an election rally in Bankura, the Trinamool Congress president alleged that the NIA team had gone to Bhupatinagar in East Medinipur district without informing the local police. He said that the Prime Minister is coming to address the election rally in West Bengal. I have no problem with it, but the way they are saying that the opposition will be prosecuted for corruption after the Lok Sabha election results, it is unacceptable. Addressing an election rally in Jalpaiguri in North Bengal on Sunday, Modi claimed that he talks about eradicating corruption, while the opposition talks about 'saving corruption'.

Strict action will be taken against corruption after June 4: PM Modi

He promised that after June 4, strict action will be taken against corruption. Mamta Banerjee said, should the Prime Minister talk like this? What if I say that BJP leaders will be sent to jail after the elections? But I will not say that because it is unacceptable in a democracy. He alleged that Modi's 'guarantee' was actually to put all opposition leaders in jail after June 4. The NIA team was allegedly ambushed by a mob on Saturday when it had gone to arrest two suspects in the 2022 East Medinipur district blast case.
