What is the controversy regarding Dhar Bhojshala?
The Hindu community is claiming that the SI-preserved 11th century monumental Bhojshala located in Dhar district is a temple of Vagdevi (Goddess Saraswati), while the Muslim community calls it Kamal Maula Masjid. In view of this controversy, arrangements were made here by ASI on 7 April 2003. Under this arrangement, the Hindu community is allowed to offer namaz in the canteen premises every Tuesday from morning to evening, while the Muslim community is allowed to offer namaz in the premises every Friday from 12 noon to 3 pm.
religious frenzy occurred several times
Both the communities have long claimed to have a temple and a mosque in the eatery. Religious hysteria has often arisen on this issue. Recently, the Muslim community approached the Supreme Court challenging the MP High Court order to stop the survey. After the hearing, the Supreme Court refused to ban the survey.
