On Wednesday afternoon, Tripura’s capital Agartala was shaken by a massive explosion. This massive explosion that took place at NS Apartment in Chaumuhani at around 12 noon has created panic in the entire area. The intensity of the blast was so high that its echo was heard far and wide, which frightened the local people. Many people are reported to be injured in this unfortunate incident, who have been immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
There was chaos in the apartment
The explosion occurred in a flat located on the first floor of the apartment. The blast was so powerful that the windows of the building were completely shattered and even the walls of the flat were damaged. Eyewitness Kushal Deb, who lives on the third floor, said that the sound of the explosion was so loud that he felt as if some major untoward incident had happened. When he came out, he saw a scene of devastation on the first floor, where debris and smoke were spread everywhere.
Administration and security agencies alert
As soon as information about the incident was received, local police and SDPO Deba Prasad Roy reached the spot with heavy force. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the Bomb Disposal Squad and the Fire Service were immediately called. The entire apartment has been evacuated for safety and investigation teams are busy finding out the cause of the explosion. At present, it is not clear what was the reason behind the explosion—whether it was a gas cylinder blast or some other explosive material, the police investigation is ongoing. At present, evidence is being collected by cordoning off the entire area and the forensic team has also been called to the spot so that the bottom of the incident can be reached.
