Grand expansion of Ganga Expressway: Two new interchanges will be built in West UP, the route will also be directly connected to Yamuna Expressway and Jewar Airport.

Big news has come regarding ‘Ganga Expressway’, one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects of Uttar Pradesh, which will give a new impetus to the development of Western Uttar Pradesh (West UP). UUPIDA has given green signal to the construction of two brand new interchanges (entry/exit points) to directly connect West UP to this expressway.

With this big decision, travelers and traders of not only Meerut and Hapur but also many districts like Bijnor, Baghpat, Mawana and Bulandshahr will get direct and superfast access to Ganga Expressway. Let us know what is the new connectivity plan and what benefits it will bring to the public.

1. Where will the two new interchanges be built? (Entry Points)

Presently the Ganga Expressway passes over the Hapur-Kithore Road, but there is only an underpass below. People from nearby villages like Kithore and Atola have to travel several kilometers to board the expressway. Now two diplomatic points have been chosen to overcome this problem:

  • First Interchange (Hapur-Kithore Route): This important interchange will be constructed near Ataula village on Hapur-Kithore route.

  • Second interchange (Hapur-Meerut border): This point will be built on the border of Hapur and Meerut, which will pass through Shafiabad border and Atola.

Land Acquisition and Budget: After getting approval from UPEDA, the work of marking land in Hapur district has intensified. 51,393 square meters of land will be acquired at Atola for this project and about 3 hectares of land will be acquired for the Kithore link. A fund of ₹10 crore has also been approved for the initial work of Kithore route.

2. These districts and industrial zones of West UP will get bumper benefits

The construction of this new interchange will greatly benefit the business and industrial landscape of the entire Western Uttar Pradesh:

  • Smooth passage of traffic: It will be very easy for heavy vehicles and cars coming from Baghpat, Bijnor and Mawana to board the 6-lane access-controlled Ganga Expressway via Hapur-Kithore route.

  • Wings to the industrial areas of Hapur: The goods manufactured in the factories of four major industrial zones of Hapur district – Simbhauli East, Simbhauli West, Sadarpur and Pooth, will now be able to reach Delhi, Meerut and further to Prayagraj in a very short time through direct expressway without getting stuck in the traffic jam of any city.

3. Ganga Expressway will connect directly to Yamuna Expressway and Jewar Airport.

The government is working on another mega-plan to completely connect Western UP with Purvanchal (Eastern UP) and Delhi-NCR. A brand new 74.3 km long Greenfield Link Expressway has been approved to directly connect the Ganga Expressway to Noida, Greater Noida and Jewar International Airport.

  • Where to: This new link expressway will start from the 44.3 kilometer point of Ganga Expressway near Syana in Bulandshahr. From there, it will directly meet Yamuna Expressway near the under construction Film City in Sector 21 of Greater Noida via BB Nagar and Aurangabad.

  • Cost and width of the project: The construction of this magnificent link highway, approximately 120 meters wide, will cost ₹4,000 crore. For this, the Uttar Pradesh government has already sanctioned a huge fund of ₹ 1,204 crore for land acquisition.

After the completion of this link route, passengers coming from Prayagraj or Varanasi will be able to directly enter Jewar Airport or Noida-Greater Noida without deboarding the Ganga Expressway, which will drastically reduce the cost of transportation and logistics in Uttar Pradesh.
