A very big and sensational news is coming out from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). In many areas including Muzaffarabad, Poonch and Mirpur located across the Line of Control (LoC), the Kashmiri people have openly rebelled against the Pakistani government and its army. Lakhs of people have come out on the streets with slogans like “This country is ours, we will decide on it”. The local leaders leading this big mass movement have given a strict ultimatum of 24 hours to the army of Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir. This tremendous rebellion that broke out in PoK has created a stir from Islamabad to the military headquarters of Rawalpindi.
Why did PoK ignite and why did Kashmiri people get angry?
According to senior journalists and experts on international strategic affairs, this anger has not erupted suddenly in PoK, rather it is the result of years of oppression and step-motherly treatment. The local Kashmiri people had been protesting peacefully for a long time regarding the shortage of flour, skyrocketing inflation, huge electricity bills and violation of basic rights. But when Pakistani Rangers and Army used batons and fired tear gas shells on peaceful protesters, the movement turned into a violent rebellion. Now the citizens of PoK clearly say that they have had enough of looting their resources and they will no longer tolerate Pakistan’s illegal occupation.
24 hours ultimatum to Munir’s army and all-out war
The Core Committee of PoK and the local Awami Action Committee have clearly warned the Pakistani security forces that if the arrested local youth are not released within the next 24 hours and the heavy military deployment is not withdrawn, they will block the entire area. Kashmiri protesters have started encircling government offices and have expressed their displeasure by removing Pakistani flags at many places. The situation has become so uncontrollable that Pakistani Army soldiers have to retreat. After this ultimatum, tension has reached its peak in the entire area and there is a possibility of a major military conflict.
New Delhi’s keen eye and Pakistan’s disgrace on the global stage
The Indian government and security agencies are also keeping a close eye on this rebellion going on in PoK. Defense experts believe that the people of PoK have now clearly understood that in contrast to the way development, peace and prosperity are returning to India’s Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan is giving them only starvation and poverty. ‘PoK Wants Freedom’ is also trending on social media, which has exposed Pakistan’s propaganda on international forums which it always keeps on talking about Kashmir. Now it remains to be seen how General Asim Munir’s army faces this 24-hour ultimatum or whether this spark of freedom in PoK writes a new history.
