Big preparation of security forces before Amarnath Yatra: Mock drill of NSG and SOG in Jammu base camp, know when the first batch will leave

Preparations are in their final stages for the holy Amarnath Yatra starting next month in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This time the security agencies also seem to be fully prepared and alert. In this sequence, on Monday, the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the police organized a joint mock drill (war exercise) at the main Yatri Niwas (base camp) located in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.

The main objective of this mock drill, conducted just before the formal start of the Amarnath Yatra, was to test the preparedness of the security forces and their ability to take immediate action in case of any possible terrorist attack or emergency. During the exercise, the brave commandos and soldiers of the country demonstrated that if the devotees of Baba Barfani were taken hostage during an unfortunate terrorist attack, how they would be rescued safely without any loss.

Strategy to rescue hostages and kill terrorists

Through this high-level drill, NSG commandos and SOG personnel intensively practiced various strategies to quickly neutralize terrorists in very narrow and sensitive areas, safely rescue hostage passengers and take control of the entire complex. The soldiers showed how even the biggest threats can be averted with the help of modern weapons and technology in the blink of an eye. During this, excellent coordination between different security forces and the ability to take quick decisions was also successfully demonstrated.

Bhagwati Nagar base camp fully prepared

The Yatri Niwas located in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu is being prepared in a very grand manner for the Amarnath Yatra. To welcome the devotees, the repair, electrical fitting and painting work of all the rooms of the camp has been completely completed. According to the administration, soon this entire Yatri Niwas will be handed over to the Tourism Department, so that the department can finalize the accommodation, food and other basic civil arrangements for the devotees in time.

Holy Yatra will start from July 3, Lieutenant Governor will show green flag

This Amarnath Yatra, which is the center of faith of Hindus every year, is officially starting next month from July 3, 2026. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the yatra, security cordon has been tightened throughout Jammu and Kashmir, especially on the national highways and base camps. Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas is the most prominent base camp of Jammu division, where pilgrims coming from all over the country stay before entering the Kashmir Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha will flag off the first batch of Amarnath pilgrims towards the holy cave from the same Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas on July 2. In view of this, the army, paramilitary forces and local police are continuously perfecting their preparations to deal with any kind of terrorist or natural challenge.
