The Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi has taken a very wonderful and big historic decision regarding the future of the fire warriors who have served in the Indian Army and are deployed in the security of the country. Keeping in mind the employment and rehabilitation of the youth returning from the army after completing 4 years of service, the Delhi government has given a big gift. According to the new proposal of the government, now a bumper reservation of 20 percent (20% Reservation for Agniveers) will be implemented in various departments and government jobs under the Delhi Government. This big step has brought a wave of happiness among the youth of Delhi and across the country, who were worried about their future after the Agniveer scheme.
Final approval given in cabinet meeting of Kejriwal government
The policy has been given official approval during a high-level cabinet meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat. In the presence of the Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers, a consensus was reached that the experience and skills of these disciplined youth serving the country should be leveraged to strengthen the administrative and security infrastructure of Delhi. After this decision of the government, instructions have been issued to the concerned departments to make necessary amendments in the recruitment rules, so that the firefighters can get direct benefits in the upcoming recruitments.
Along with Group ‘C’ and ‘D’, these departments will get direct priority
Under this new reservation policy of Delhi Government, this 20 percent quota will be given to the firefighters mainly on Group ‘C’ (Class 3) and Group ‘D’ (Class 4) posts of Delhi Police, Home Guards, Delhi Fire Service, Transport Department (DTC) and various administrative departments. Apart from this, Agniveer will also be given special relaxation in the prescribed maximum age limit to apply for these posts. A provision has also been made to give some relaxations in the physical test and other eligibility criteria considering the experience of the army, which will make the path of their selection very easy.
The future of youth will get new security: diplomatic and political implications
Since the launch of the Agneepath scheme of the Central Government, questions were being raised continuously among the youth regarding the security of employment after 4 years of service. This step of the Delhi government will not only allay those apprehensions, but it will also set a big example for other states. This decision is going to have far-reaching effects at the local and geographical level, because lakhs of youth from Delhi and its surrounding states (like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan) are joining the Indian Army as Agniveer and after service, they will be able to take advantage of these excellent employment opportunities available in Delhi.
