Now sand will be available directly at half the market price, the government has made a master plan to break the back of syndicate rule. Now sand will be available directly from the market at half the price, government has made a masterplan to break the back of syndicate rule.

The state government has made a very wonderful and big relief announcement for the poor families who are dreaming of building their homes in West Bengal. The beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), troubled by the skyrocketing prices of construction materials and terror of middlemen i.e. syndicates in the state, no longer need to worry at all. Adopting a very strict stance, the government has prepared a complete and transparent system of providing sand directly to the poor families building houses in rural areas at a price much lower than the market rate.

To bring this public welfare scheme to the ground, detailed survey work has also been completed at the ground level. From the coming month, this new system will be started as a pilot project primarily in about 11 blocks of Birbhum district, which is later planned to be implemented gradually in the entire West Bengal.

Minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay made a big announcement in Suri, Birbhum, made a direct attack on corruption

The official announcement of this historic and new arrangement was made by State Higher Education Minister and local MLA Jagannath Chattopadhyay while addressing a huge public welfare camp organized in Suri-I block of Birbhum. The Minister assured the public that now no middleman will be able to steal the money due to the poor. Referring to the transparent system, the minister presented some shocking figures from the stage, which have created panic in the opposition camp.

He said that it is the result of administrative promptness after the Chief Minister’s strict and clear instructions against syndicate raj and ‘fake challan’ that a record revenue of Rs 72 crore 78 lakh has been deposited in the government treasury within the last one month (17 May to 16 June) from just 10 stone check gates of Birbhum.

Earlier development money used to go to TMC fund, now record revenue is coming to the government treasury.

Directly accusing the previous government and system of corruption, Education Minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay said that in earlier times, whenever elections were held, development money was looted from the government machinery and diverted directly into the election fund of Trinamool Congress (TMC). This was the reason that at that time the monthly revenue collection remained limited to only Rs 9 crore to Rs 22 crore and the rest of the money was embezzled by the syndicate mafia.

He said that recently due to Bakrid festival holidays, there has been a slight decline in the revenue from check gates, otherwise in the coming months the government revenue figure will easily touch the historical milestone of Rs 100 crore.

Warning to those who evade tax by spreading dust, double fine will be imposed if caught

From the stage of Suri, the minister also gave a final warning in a very strict tone to the illegal businessmen and sand-stone mafia of the area. He said that any unwanted elements or transporters who try to evade tax or illegally smuggle precious stones and sand by laying a layer of dust or soil over the trucks, the administration will take action against them under the Gangster Act.

If such overloaded and illegal vehicles are caught, not only will the vehicles be seized, but double fine will also be charged from their owners. On one hand, due to this strict stance of the government, there is panic among those running illegal syndicates, on the other hand, there is a wave of happiness among the rural beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana because now their permanent house will be built at a very low cost.
