US-Iran War Ends: Historic end of the war between America and Iran; Donald Trump and Iranian President signed interim agreement (MoU) at Versailles Palace

In terms of global diplomacy and international security, a very historic, epoch-making and very good news has emerged. The devastating war between America and Iran that has been terrorizing the Middle East for more than three months has finally ended. An interim agreement between the two superpowers to stop the war with immediate effect (Memorandum of Understanding – MoU) has been officially signed.

US President Donald Trump (Donald Trump) on Thursday (18 June 2026) signed this peace document with French President Emmanuel Macron during a special dinner held at the prestigious ‘Versailles Palace’ in Paris. Soon after, Iranian President Massoud Pazhakian signed the historic peace agreement electronically from Tehran. As soon as the two heads of states signed it at around 5:00 am Indian time on Thursday, this ceasefire agreement has been officially implemented all over the world, due to which the global markets have heaved a sigh of relief.

Agreement official after digital signature; no need for geneva ceremony

Coming out of the Palace of Versailles after the G7 summit held in France, US President Donald Trump confirmed this diplomatic success while talking to international journalists.

  • Iranian Foreign Ministry statement: Soon after Trump’s announcement, the Iranian government also officially announced the finalization of the peace agreement. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told state media outlet IRIB, “It was previously agreed that the Iran-US Memorandum of Understanding will be signed digitally. Now, after the successful completion of the digital signing process by both sides, this peace agreement has officially become global law.”

  • Changed schedule of Geneva Summit: This expedited digital signature process means that the grand and formal signing ceremony that took place in Geneva, Switzerland on Friday (June 19) is no longer a technical requirement. However, Iranian officials have made it clear that the high-level bilateral talks between the diplomats of the two countries in Geneva, Switzerland will continue as scheduled.

4 biggest terms of the agreement: Big decision on Lebanon conflict and Hormuz Strait

According to American and Iranian media reports, with the implementation of this interim peace agreement, many big relief news are coming from the battlefield of the Middle East:

  1. Opening of Strait of Hormuz: ‘The New York Times’ quoting a senior American diplomat has reported that the Strait of Hormuz, considered the main artery of global trade, was closed yesterday. Will be fully opened to international ships by Friday 19 June 2026.

  2. Priority for crude oil supply: To control the acute shortage of crude oil and natural gas in the global markets and inflation, special priority will be given to the movement of large oil tankers through this sea route.

  3. End of US naval blockade: The US Navy’s aggressive blockade on the sea routes of Gulf countries and OPEC, which has been going on for the last three months, has been completely ended.

  4. Ceasefire in Lebanon: Under this historic deal, it has been agreed to completely stop the ongoing fierce military conflict and bombing not only in Iran but also on the Lebanon Crisis front.

Pakistan and Qatar became the main mediators of this grand peace agreement.

According to White House and Kremlin sources, many mediator countries have played a very important role behind the scenes in bringing arch adversaries like America and Iran to the negotiating table and carrying out this diplomatic agreement.

To make this peace talks successful, mainly Pakistan and Qatar Diplomats from India have made the biggest contribution. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had indicated on the global stage on Monday that his country is going to host and mediate the diplomatic session of the historic peace agreement between America and Iran in Switzerland on June 19. It is only due to Qatar’s mediation and Pakistan’s back-channel diplomacy that a peaceful end to this three-month long global military standoff has been possible.

Why is this peace agreement very important for India?

This global peace agreement is going to have a very deep and positive impact on India:

  • Safety of Indian sailors: Just a day earlier (on June 17), during his meeting with President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had strongly raised the issue of safety of Indian sailors stranded on global sea routes. With the opening of Hormuz Strait, the crisis of Indian ships will end.

  • Strategic Security Promise: In this bilateral meeting with PM Modi, Donald Trump had given a very big statement assuring India that- “If India ever faces any external attack or security crisis, America will always stand by India like a rock.”

  • Relief from inflation: With the end of the US-Iran war and smooth supply of oil, the prices of petrol, diesel and fertilizers will remain under control in India, which will greatly strengthen the Indian economy.
