Hormuz Strait Crisis: Iran’s drone attack on Indian ships? Donald Trump’s new claim created a stir in international circles

The most sensitive sea routes of West Asia and the Gulf region ‘Strait of Hormuz’ The situation has once again become extremely explosive. US President Donald Trump has made a very shocking and big claim saying that the Iranian Army has tried to target Indian ships passing through this route through drones. However, the US Army claims that it shot down several Iranian drones that were going to target commercial ships in time and completely foiled the attack.

This incident has come to light at a time when there have been continuous attacks on ships with Indian crew in this maritime area for the last few days, due to which diplomatic tension is also being seen between New Delhi and Washington.

Trump’s anger on Truth Social: ‘Iran should improve its behavior’

US President Donald Trump expressed his anger on Iran by writing a long and sharp post on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’. Trump said in clear words that such attacks on Indian ships are not acceptable at any cost.

Trump wrote in his post:

“Their (Iranian) drone attack on Indian ships sailing through the Strait of Hormuz last night, which was completely foiled, is absolutely unacceptable. They must mend their ways as soon as possible, and that too very quickly!”

However, defense experts say that as of now, there has been no confirmed direct attack on any purely Indian-owned ship, rather those foreign-flagged ships on which Indian sailors are deployed are being targeted.

Death of Indian sailors and strict stance of Indian government

In the last one week, three such major incidents have occurred near the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman which have greatly increased India’s concern.

You can easily understand the main aspects of this entire incident from the table given below:

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had clarified that the ships attacked were foreign flagged, but the use of deadly force against civilian shipping is completely unacceptable and worrying. Meanwhile, Trump has now given a new twist by claiming that Iran itself had tried to attack Indian ships with drones on Friday night.

Peace deal in vain?

This new military confrontation is also surprising because just a day before this, President Trump had claimed that a ‘great deal’ to end the war with Iran is almost finalized and it can be signed in Europe this weekend. But now the gap of distrust between the two countries has deepened.

Trump has accused Iran of deliberately leaking false and misleading terms (Fake News) to the media regarding the proposed agreement. Expressing his displeasure, Trump said, “Whatever is being spread by Iran has nothing to do with the conditions that have been set in writing. There can be no honest talks with them.”

On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bakai has strongly condemned the US naval actions. Iran says that America’s policies of ‘armed robbery’ and piracy remain the biggest threat to global peace and safe maritime navigation.
