The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the days and nights of Delhi will become quite hot by the end of the week. The weather office has predicted that the maximum temperature will cross 40 degrees Celsius around April 15.
The rising temperatures will increase as the mild relief brought by the Western Disturbance has started fading, paving the way for the scorching heat.
The minimum temperature was under control due to north-westerly winds for the last few days, however it is expected to end now. of Hindustan Times According to reports, the air will likely remain calm, but will get hotter.
“The strong surface winds from last week continued on Sunday with average speed of 25-35 km/hr. However, these surface winds will slow down by Tuesday,” IMD scientist Kuldeep Srivastava was quoted as saying.
Srivastava said the minimum temperature is expected to rise by three to four degrees above the current temperature in the next few days, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius by April 15.
Data from the Meteorological Department showed that last year in 2022, the maximum temperature had exceeded 40 degrees Celsius on April 16 and April 8.
The IMD said the maximum temperature in the national capital on Sunday was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above the seasonal average. Relative humidity during the day ranged between 63 percent and 21 percent.
The weather department has predicted clear skies for Monday and the maximum temperature is likely to be 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum will be 17 degrees Celsius.
Mahesh Palawat, vice president of private forecaster Skymet, was quoted as saying, “North-westerly winds were helping keep the temperatures down. Humidity will also increase in the next week.”
The national capital's air quality index (AQI) remained in the “moderate” category at 178 on Sunday, the Central Pollution Control Board's national bulletin said. AQI is expected to remain 'moderate' on Monday also.
An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good, satisfactory between 51 and 100, moderate between 101 and 200, poor between 201 and 300, very poor between 301 and 400, severe between 401 and 450 and severe above 450. Is considered a plus.
