Even after the end of the IPL 2026 season, there is one name which is on the lips of every cricket lover – that name of Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The way this little player classed up the senior and world famous bowlers on the field, he surprised everyone. In this season, Vaibhav not only batted explosively, but also won the ‘Orange Cap’ by scoring more than 700 runs. Last season also he had shown glimpses of his batting, but this time he has proved his talent to the whole world.
Seeing this amazing performance of Vaibhav, now even the big experts of cricket are not able to stop themselves from talking about him. In this episode, Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has given a big statement about Vaibhav. During a conversation with PTI, he not only praised Vaibhav’s game but also spoke highly of the comparison between Virat and Vaibhav.
Rajkumar Sharma goes crazy about Vaibhav’s fearless style
Coach Rajkumar Sharma, who nurtured Virat Kohli since childhood, praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi a lot. He said that there is no doubt that this boy is a God-gifted and extraordinary talent. At an age when children could not understand the pitch properly, Vaibhav destroyed international level bowlers.
According to Rajkumar Sharma:
“The kind of fearless cricket that Vaibhav plays is really admirable. The way he hits sixes against the bowlers is incredible in T20 cricket. He is thoroughly enjoying this shortest format of the game at the moment. My advice to him would be that he doesn’t need to change anything in his game right now. Just go out on the field, keep playing the way you are playing and keep entertaining the people.”
What is the coach’s opinion regarding Test cricket?
When Rajkumar Sharma was asked whether Vaibhav can do wonders for India in Test cricket in the future, he gave a very practical answer. He clearly said that he has not yet seen Vaibhav playing much in the longer format (first class or test match).
Test cricket takes a different kind of test, where you have to see how mature a player is, how he plays the swinging balls or leaves the balls going outside the off stump. Rajkumar Sharma believes that Vaibhav is still very young, so it would not be right to put pressure on him in all three formats right now. For now, he should continue his aggressive batting.
Said this on comparison of Virat Kohli and Vaibhav
Nowadays, in social media and cricket circles, Vaibhav is being compared to the early days of Virat Kohli. On this, Rajkumar Sharma clearly said that he does not believe at all in comparing two different generations or players.
He said that the status that Virat Kohli has achieved in the last 18 years is the result of his hard work and amazing consistency. Virat has become a legend who has won many matches for India on his own. Vaibhav, on the other hand, is just a rising star who is extremely talented. Right now we have seen him only in T20 format.
The coach also laughed and said, “He is still a kid. As he grows older, his fitness and game will improve further. We just need to see him move forward without any pressure and give him full support.”
