Gwalior, 7 April (HS). Administrative officers and media representatives came together in the field on Sunday with the aim of making the residents of the entire district including the city aware about voting. On this day, a friendly cricket match was played between the teams of the district administration and the media as part of the voter awareness campaign in the series of voter awareness activities being organized in the district under SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation). In this match played at Roop Singh Stadium, the district administration team defeated the media team by 9 wickets in a one-sided match.
The Administration XI team, under the captaincy of Collector and District Election Officer Ruchika Chauhan, did not give the media team a chance to recover from the beginning. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, all the players of the media team returned to the pavilion after scoring only 20 runs within eight overs. The Administration XI team achieved this target in the fourth over itself by losing one wicket.
On behalf of the Administration XI, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Vivek Kumar performed brilliantly with both ball and bat and was declared Player of the Match. He took a total of four wickets including an over hat-trick. Also, while batting, he scored a total of 13 runs including three brilliant fours.
Collector Ruchika Chauhan, CSP Nagendra Singh Sikarwar, Shishir Srivastava and Bhima took one wicket each. Two players of the media team were run out. Collector Ruchika Chauhan and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Harsh Singh came on the field as openers for the Administration XI team. Collector returned to the pavilion after scoring one run. He was caught out by Ramkishan Katare on the ball of Nasir Ghauri. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Harsh Singh remained unbeaten after scoring 7 runs. After the fall of the first wicket, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Vivek Kumar reached the crease and batted brilliantly to give victory to the Administration XI.
At the end of the match, District Administration XI was declared the winner and Media XI was declared the runner-up. Besides, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Vivek Kumar was awarded Player of the Match, Media XI's Nasir Gauri was awarded Best Moment and APRO Hitendra Singh Bhadauria was awarded for Commentary.
A large number of representatives of print and electronic media, administrative officials and sports lovers were present in the stadium during the friendly cricket match. On this occasion, District Election Officer Ruchika Chauhan appealed to participate enthusiastically in voting on 7th May.
